Vertical Earth, Inc is hiring for a Civil Project Manager. We are located in Forsyth County, Georgia and have 20+ active projects in the North Atlanta Metro area. Founded in 1997 as Johnson Landscapes, Vertical Earth has grown from a college student's lawn mowing business to an $80M a year company doing projects for GDOT, Cities/Counties, Industrial Clients and Private Developers, etc.

Reports to: Vice President-Civil  or  Vice President-Transportation

Desired Experience/Skills: 

  • Ability to extensively understand engineered drawings, blueprints
  • Aptitude with computers, internet, MS Office
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Easily adaptable to changes in a technology-driven environment
  • Ability to travel, work extended hours and some weekends
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field or 5 years of equivalent experience
  • Sound understanding of safety guidelines
  • Strong organizational, professionalism, verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Knowledge of scheduling crews, subcontractors, and materials
  • Ability to identify project risks and collaborate resolution to challenges
  • Strong ability to lead a team and be a member of a team

Purpose:

To work with senior management and superintendents to oversee the day-to-day onsite operations for individual construction projects from preconstruction through the close-out phase.  This includes but is not limited to, procuring, scheduling, and the directing of work crews, equipment, subcontractors, and materials.  The project manager must be able to construct projects in accordance with construction designs, plans, and specifications while complying with the established scope, schedule, and budget.  The project manager must also be able to work with key stakeholders providing updates and resolution to project issues.

Responsibilities

  • Review and understand proposals, estimates, plans, specifications, permits, and related documents; analyzing labor, material, equipment, and time requirements.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with estimators, superintendents, operations manager, equipment manager on project management – materials, internal crews, subcontractors
  • Maintain continual communication with the customer, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Work with engineers, environmental teams, owners, vendors, suppliers, etc.
  • Be knowledgeable and skilled in operation of road building and site development equipment to work with superintendents regarding timely, proper, and safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain project records on a daily basis
  • Creates monthly pay estimates and reviews/approves invoices
  • Create project schedules and work orders
  • Meet with owners and professionals as required
  • Be responsible for timely completion of work assignments within the estimated costs while maintaining the company’s reputation for quality workmanship.
  • Report injuries and equipment damage to management.

Work with state and local inspectors to ensure work is performed according to established guidelines
