I'm Mary Beth Walters and I work for Equus Workforce Solutions/SC Works in Greenville, Spartanburg, Cherokee & Union Counties in the upstate area. We have several programs that we can utilize to assist unemployed, underemployed or dislocated workers (this category consists of those who have been permanently laid off, recently (last 4 years) discharged military veterans (who have been unable to find employment, at home parents trying to re-enter the workforce). The funds we have are through a federal program called Work Innovation Opportunity Act or WIOA. The eligible candidates will participate in on-the job training because they will have a skills gap and will need to be trained by the company to be successful in the job they have been hired for. We, in turn, will reimburse the hiring company up to 50% or $3000 in training wages for hiring someone from one of the groups mentioned above.
