The hearing focused on applications for approvals under DEP’s Chapter 102 and 105 water and wetlands regulations. Sunday noted the project will support thousands of jobs in the state, secure additional improvements in air quality and greenhouse gas emissions, and provide additional energy security during the winter months. Pending state and federal approvals, the project is expected to begin construction in early 2023 and be placed into service by winter 2024.

  12. How wonderful Nina!  Plan to attend our next two meetings, one will be at BMW (date TBD) November something.  Then our January 26th luncheon 11:30-1pm.  We look forward to meeting you soon.  At this time, we are looking for support for sponsorships, social media scheduling and social campaign activities to build our WCB Brand.

  13. The last few years have been a ride of a lifetime.  A dream of helping others and 84 Lumber 's commitment to communities have enabled us to make an impact on many small, women, and minority owned businesses.  Racquel Sparks won the "Next Generation Builder" award in New York.  We've been working with her and supporting her for almost one year.  I was also honored among so many other amazing women, to win an award for "Outstanding Women" which was quite a shock from the group of ladies who were more than qualified for the same honor.

It matters to invest in people. We love making a difference and seeing growth of women and minorities in business.

Thank you to everyone for your unwavering support! Women Builders Council is an excellent place to get connected and grow as a woman in business and construction.  Very well done organization,  if you need more information on how to get involved,  let us know.

Thanks to our customer @Delmar VA Veterans for attending with us. Also to Vivian Mandala of CMC Networking and her amazing MWBE construction businesses who also joined us, we were so happy to meet you.

Last but not least Chris Kempner from Peconic Solutions, you are amazing and I want to be like you when I grow up. ❤️

Build your network! Surround yourself with people who you value and they value you. You are the result of the people you surround yourself with.

There are plenty of certifying agencies that do not require paying a fee - such as DOT DBE/MBE/WBE & HUB (Historically Underutilized Businesses). For those of us SBEs just starting - go free! Your states will help you grow!

    Hi Everyone

My name is Samantha, I own a flooring company that specializes in flooring repairs and installation. My company is very small, right now just myself and my husband with a few subcontractors that I use for larger jobs.

Super long story short, I have the opportunity to bid on a very large construction job, it would consist of installing flooring for a multiple family(apartment/townhomes) community with over 200 units that would need flooring. I would need to provide materials and labor, I have a supplier that can handle the materials, but I would need a lot more labor  The project would run from the end of 2022 to the middle of 2024.

So my main questions: Should I even try to pursue this project or wait for something smaller? What are some of the Pro and Cons I should ponder over when deciding on whether to bid on thee project?

Are there any questions I should ask the builder regarding the project? If I do win the bid am I obligated to honor the price quoted? Lastly I most definitely do not have the capital to advance any of the cost that may be needed during the project.

    Thank you all in advance,

    Samantha

    Samantha,

I'm so glad we were able to help you navigate that contract yesterday!  Thank you so much for reaching out here.  We are here to help and support you.
